Discover Your Working Genius
Discover Your Working Genius
This 15-minute self-directed learning experience was designed to help learners discover their Working Genius in a way that is approachable, easy to follow, and a little playful. My goal was to create a learning experience people actually want to engage with, sparking curiosity and encouraging reflection without overwhelming them.
Every design choice was intentional. I used a friendly, conversational tone with a touch of humor to make the content inviting. Conversational language reduces cognitive hurdles, so learners don’t get stuck on complex terminology and can jump straight to understanding the concepts. I also chose the fewest words possible to explain ideas clearly and directly, reducing reader fatigue and maximizing retention. Reflection prompts and discussion exercises encouraged learners to explore their strengths, share insights with colleagues, and apply what they learned immediately.
Learners loved the tone and approach. They shared their insights with teammates, sparked meaningful discussions, and applied the content in real team settings. Many even asked about using it as a group activity or expanding it into longer courses. These responses show the design not only engaged learners but also produced actionable outcomes.
I built this entirely in Google Docs and Snagit, demonstrating that you don’t always need top-of-line applications to create impactful learning. It’s a reminder that thoughtful design, a learner-first approach, and a little personality can go a long way. This sample shows how I create self-directed learning experiences that are fun, meaningful, and ready to use.
